COMPUTING
Classes are run at several local community venues including SENET Internet Learning Centre (at Gilmerton Community Centre), Cafe Connect (at Gracemount Leisure Centre), Burdiehouse & Southhouse Community Centre and Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre. Check individual centres for details of classes and programmes.
LIBRARIES
Come along to you local library for a choice of books, CDs, magazines,
audiobooks and newspapers. Every library in Edinburgh provides free internet
access and staff are on hand to help you get started. Look out for events
such as storytelling and computer classes. It's free to join the library.
Gilmerton Library has a community room which can be booked by groups. The
opening hours for Moredun and Gilmerton Libraries are:

LEARNING DISABILITIES GROUPS
LAHA is
the largest day care centre in South Edinburgh offering a range of fully
inclusive educational and
recreational resources to older people, young adults and children. Open
Monday to Thursday with organised outings on a Friday. Projects include:
LAHA Festival Drama Association; Alternative Therapies (Reiki, Magnetic
Therapy, Aromatherapy & Massage); Filmed Video Production and Performance;
Digital Photography; Laha's Reader's Circle; Traditional Arts and Crafts;

is to help local people be more active in their local area.

Moredun Development Trust Ltd
is the umbrella organisation for all community groups in the Moredun
Area. One of the key aims of the trust is to ensure that local people are
involved in the regeneration of their area. The trust meets on a monthly
basis. Current projects include: Playmaze, Ferniehill Community Park, Entrust
- Traffic Forum.

One Parent Families Scotland Our
voluntary organisation supports lone parents throughout Scotland and offers
information through factsheets and telephone support. In Edinburgh, the
Counsellor and Lone Parent Support Worker can offer one-to-one interviews.
Topics covered include Going Back to Work, Housing,
Legal Issues, Money for Lone Parent Students in Higher
Education, Working Families Tax Credit and information
on Educational Trust Funds and Family Need. A Sure
Start funded project provides support and activities for lone fathers with
pre-school children.
