Jewel & Esk Valley College The
college is one of Scotlands largest colleges of further education.The
college delivers full time and part time courses, day release, evening
classes, short courses and open and flexible learning. We offer advanced
diplomas, HNDs, HNCs and NCs. We have Access courses, Highers, SVQs and
Skillseekers. Our Student Services team can provide you with advice and
guidance on which course to choose, finance and careers and anything relating
to the college and education.

Include Us In is for people with
learning difficulties, disabled people, families and/or carers, support
staff and people who want to build strong communities. The aim of the group
is to help local people be more active in their local area.

LAHA
is the largest day care centre in South Edinburgh offering a range of fully
inclusive educational and
recreational resources to older people, young adults and children. Open
Monday to Thursday with organised outings on a Friday. Projects include:

Therapy, Aromatherapy & Massage); Filmed Video Production and Performance;
Digital Photography; Laha's Reader's Circle; Traditional Arts and Crafts;

Libraries
Come along to you local library for a choice of books, CDs, magazines,
audiobooks and newspapers. Every library in Edinburgh provides free
Internet access and staff are on hand to help you get started. Look
out for events such as storytelling and computer classes. It's free
to join the library. The two libraries in the area are Gilmerton
and Moredun Library. Gilmerton has a community room which can be
booked by groups. See individual entries for details.
Moredun Community Centre is an independent
community centre run by Moredun Community Association, a group of local
volunteers, under the umbrella of The City Edinburgh Council Community
Education Department.

Moredun Development Trust Ltd
is the umbrella organisation for all community groups in the Moredun
Area. One of the key aims of the trust is to ensure that local people are
involved in the regeneration of their area. The trust meets on a monthly
basis. Current projects include: Playmaze, Ferniehill Community Park, Entrust
- Traffic Forum.
